History
Halcyon Monitoring Solutions was founded in 1994 by software engineers at Systemware Innovation Corporation (SWI), a market leader providing consulting services for the Energy and Financial industries. The creation of Halcyon resulted from the real-world experience of SWI engineers, who recognized the need for proactive systems monitoring to ensure reliability and availability of mission critical applications and systems.

Halcyon's technical expertise translated into a high quality software product called PrimeAlert®, an SNMP-compliant intelligent agent framework, which monitors distributed systems running mission critical applications for the UNIX and Microsoft Windows environments.

In 1996, Halcyon entered into an agreement with Sun Microsystems to co-develop Sun™ Enterprise SyMON 2.0 based on Halcyon's PrimeAlert® technology. The product was later renamed to Sun Management Center and is Sun's framework for monitoring and managing Sun hardware and the Solaris OS including Zones and Containers.

In 2005, as a result of research and development work, Halcyon founded xkoto Inc. whose GRIDSCALE&trade Database Load Balancer uses patent pending technology to enable commercial off-the-shelf databases to run on a cluster of commodity systems with the same or better reliability and performance as much more expensive proprietary systems.

Today, Halcyon continues to provide solutions to improve Data Center visibility, availability, and reliability for our clients world-wide.
