Reporter Data ViewUsers can view historical data for any Sun MC agent object which Reporter is monitoring. There are two ways of doing this: through Reporter's Data View, and with reports. The data view is the most basic method, and requires no setup from the user. To launch the data view for a particular object, select Graph or List from the popup menu for that object in the table view. You can also launch a data view by clicking on a graph in a report.
In the top pane of the Data View, there are controls for Report Type (graph or list), Data Bin, and Data Cascade Type. The latter has four options: average, last, maximum, and minimum. Last means the points plotted are the last values recorded for each time period. Maximum and minimum will plot the max/min values recorded in each period. Average will plot the average of all values recorded over a particular period. See Bins and Data Cascade Types for a full explanation of these parameters. If the Report Type is Graph, then below these controls is a picklist for selecting a graph template. You can use this feature to change the style and colours of your graph. Beside the list of templates there is a set of links (Add, Edit, Duplicate, Delete, and Set Default) for graph template management.
In the middle of the data view, there is either a graph or list, with some links above and below it. Above the graph or list there are links labeled Refresh, Zoom, Printer Friendly, Print, and Help. Refresh will reload the page, with updated data for the graph or list. Zoom will open a Time Range Editor which can be used to specify a new time range. The graph or list will then reload, using data points from that time range. Clicking the Printer Friendly link will redraw the graph without the top and bottom portions of the dataview (see Figure 15). There are now only two links present: Show Decorations and Print. Show Decorations will restore the window to its previous appearance, and Print will open an operating system/browser dependent dialog box for printing the page. Clicking the Help link opens this page. Above the graph at the right there is a list of times labeled Update. Selecting a value for Update other than off, for example, 5 minutes, will cause the graph (or list) to automatically redraw every 5 minutes with updated data. Selecting off will disable these updates. Below the graph or list, there are three links: Go To Object, Edit Object and Alarms. The Go To Object link opens a new WebPortal window centered on that object in the hierarchy (i.e. a view of Domain/Host/Module/Object, rather than Domain/Host/Reporter). Clicking the Edit Object link opens an Attribute Editor for the object, which allows you to change, among other things, alarm thresholds, actions, and data acquisition intervals. The Alarms link opens an Alarm Search window, which displays all alarms on the object's host within the time range shown on the graph or list. In the bottom section of the data view, there are controls for viewing process lists and exporting the data contained in the list (or plotted in the graph).
