Versions documented: 5.2.3b, 5.2.3a, 5.2.3, 5.2.0
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
VERSION/DATE: 5.2.3b/2009-05-21
UPGRADE STRATEGY:
- Supports Sun MC Server layer 3.5 Update 1 or newer only.
You should upgrade SunMC Server layer to '3.5 Update 1' or newer.
- PrimeAlert Agent for Linux 5.2.x versions are NOT backward compatible
with 5.1.x or older versions. You should uninstall the older version
before installing the 5.2.x version.
ENHANCEMENTS:
- Added support for SUSE Linux 11
KNOWN PROBLEMS:
- PrimeAlert Agent for Linux is compatible with Sun Management Center 2.x
agent and infrastructure, thus some features of Sun Management Center 3.x
agent may not be supported.
Workaround: Not available.
- PrimeAlert System Monitor reports on "Idle" processes, and the number
of "Sleeping" processes does not match the number reported as state
"S" in a ps -elf.
Explanation: The "Idle" processes as reported in the PrimeAlert
System Monitor module is actually the number of
sleeping processes that are swapped (in ps -elf,
the args of such processes are encased in [] ).
The number of "Sleeping" processes reported in the
System Monitor module is the number of sleeping
processes MINUS the number of sleeping processes
swapped out.
- PrimeAlert System Monitor -> User Statistics -> Console User value
reports <none>
Explanation: The user whose TTY is "console" or "tty1" or ":0" is
reported as Console User.
Either there is no user logged in on the console or
the TTY is not one of the above for the console user.
- Warning message received while stopping the agent:
"agent process(<PID> error waiting for process to exit: child process
lost (is SIGCHLD ignored or trapped?)"
Explanation: This is benign and can be safely ignored.
If in doubt, run a "ps -elf | grep paAgent | grep -v grep"
to ensure that the agent process has been stopped.
